In order to establish the range of practical techniques used in the creation of a channels visual identity a list of case studies were brought together (Arte, Channel 4, Plug TV, ProSieben, Reelzchannel, Schweizer Fernsehen, BBC One, Sundance channel, Fuel TV and KI.KA).  The elements and techniques of each identity were studied, identified and listed as follows:
